MORE WORDSHIP. The Richard Kostelanetz Bookstore

Space O' | via Pastrengo, 12 | Milan. November 29th 2013 - Janaury 18th 2014

AUDIOGUIDE

Poet, writer, American avant-garde artist, critic and curator, Richard Kostelanetz was born in New York in 1940. With his literary output and his visual poetry introduces new grammar and expressive codes that were defined in the Sixties "radical and intolerant". Famous for its pungent prose, his short fiction and visual poetry, Richard Kostelanetz uses devices such as language connections, sequences of numbers, puns, alliteration, parallelism, constructivism and minimalism that challenge the reader.

To this complex and fascinating personality, still little known in Europe, Kunstverein, with the important support of Foundation Bonotto, dedicates a unique event, "More Wordship", that includes a wealth of rare books, film, audio, drawings, poetry and visual works available to the public as a real bookstore; everything will be sold at affordable prices.

"More Wordship" is a good alternative to a retrospective exhibition about the author and a choice consistent with his artistic practice.

The project continues and extends the first European stage of "Openings & Closings. The Richard Kostelanetz Bookstore" presented in 2011 in Amsterdam. In addition to the selection of material from the Amsterdam Kunstverein, the event is enriched with new works: rare artifacts, editions, works of art of small format, audio and visual works, including the complete set of Assemblings, founded and produced by Kostelanetz between 1970 and 1982.
