George. The story of George Maciunas and Fluxus

On the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the birth of Fluxus Angelica. Centro di Ricerca Musicale in collaboration with Fondazione Bonotto as part of VOCI DALL'ALDILÀ XIII (thirteenth year - 12, 19 October + 14 December 2022) present :

George. The story of George Maciunas and Fluxus a film by Jeffrey Perkins

The film tells, through an incredible number of unpublished testimonies, the singular and difficult life of George Maciunas, and his extraordinary ability to intuit the radical changes that were taking place in the world of contemporary arts, building around them a theoretical framework and a context to present them to the world: Yoko Ono, Henry Flynt, La Monte Young, Yoshi Wada, Philip Corner, Alison Knowles, Nam June Paik, Giuseppe Chiari, Milan Knizak, George Brecht, Takehisa Kosugi, Wolf Vostell, Ben Patterson but also Sylvano Bussotti, Terry Riley, Frederic Rzewski, Gyorgy Ligeti, James Tenney, John Cale, Cornelius Cardew, Peter Brötzmann, Misha Mengelberg, are just some of the artists who at different times have been or considered effective members, or who have contributed to the events as composers or performer.

George's screening will be introduced by Philip Corner, a member of the movement since his birth (Maciunas will dedicate one of his rare compositions to him, in 1962, to which Corner will reciprocate with three tributes in 2017 and 19) and due famous for "scandal" at the Festum Fluxorum Fluxus in September '62 for his Piano Activities for which Maciunas, Patterson, Higgins etc. they hammered and destroyed a piano; and by Patrizio Peterlini, director of Fondazione Bonotto.
